Do you have a rush of water shooting up from your skimmer when your pump is turned off?
If you experience a rush of water shooting up from your skimmer when your pump is turned off, it may be due to a common issue in the system.
Possible Causes:
- Not enough water in the pool. Water level should be ¾ of the way up the skimmer.
- Skimmer basket should be installed. If not present, a swirl will form and suck air into the pump
- There is an accumulation of air in the pool pump from leaking fitting(s) located between the skimmer and the pump. When the pump is running that section of plumbing is under vacuum and will be sucking air if there is a leak.
To find the leak - turn off the pump and look for drips. Fix them accordingly.
