Ensure that the basket in the pump is kept clean at all times and perform regular backwashes for the filter.
How to Clean the Basket in the Pump:
- Shut off the pump.
- Close ball valve between the skimmer and the pump.
- Position the valve at the top of the sand filter to closed.
- Open the transparent cover on the pump and remove the basket.
- Clean the basket and reposition inside the pump.
- Close transparent cover.
- Open the valve between the skimmer and the pump.
- Position the valve at the top of the filter to filtration.
- Turn the pump back on.
- It is good to occasionally add a thin layer of o-ring lubricant to the o-ring on the lid of the pump to make it easier to open.
How to Perform a Backwash and Rinse:
- Shut off the pump.
- Position the valve at the top of the filter to backwash.
- Extend the backwash hose completely without any kinks.
- Turn the pump back on, and run until the glass on the side of the filter
gets pretty clear.
- Shut off pump.
- Position the valve at the top of the filter to rinse.
- Turn the pump back on, and run until the glass on the side of the filter
gets clear.
- Shut off the pump.
- Position the valve at the top of the filter to filtration.
- Turn the pump back on.
